MUSIC
"Art of the Muses") is, according to the traditional definition of the term, the art of organizing a coherent and logically sensible combination of sounds and silences using fundamental principles of melody, harmony and rhythm, through the intervention of complex psycho-mental processes.
CLASSIFICATION MUSICAL
Traditionally been separated by gender as musical works for what purpose have been made, that is, according to its social function and its implementation (functional or substantive criteria).
Classification by Function
Church music: that which has been created for any religious ceremony or worship (mass, etc.).
Secular music: the genre it belongs to all non-religious music.
Dance music:
Dramatic music: in this genre theatrical musical, in which the singers representing his character acting while singing (opera, musical, etc.).
Incidental music: the music that accompanies a play, a television, a radio, film, video games and other forms of expression that are not musical beginning.
Film Music: music is usually orchestrated and instruments specifically made to accompany the scenes of a movie and support the film narrative. Although it may be considered as a kind of incidental music, is itself a genre.
Classification instrumentation
Vocal Music: all music involving the voice. A vocal music without any accompaniment is called "a capella". If it is a set of voices is called choral music.
Instrumental music: works performed exclusively by musical instruments, without engaging voice. In classical music, if the instrument cluster is reduced speaking of chamber music. When the musical work is performed by an orchestra speaks of symphonic music. If running the instruments work are electronic, talking about electronic music.
Pure or abstract music: music is without reference to extra-musical; not attempt to describe or suggest anything concrete beyond what the listener is able to perceive and feel.
Program music: is based on a literary program guide or extra-musical argument. It is music that tries to tell a story or story, the life of a character, etc. A derivation of this genre is the descriptive music, which is describing a landscape, a phenomenon or event (a battle, a storm, etc.).
